Privacy Policy

trynewspulse is a factual stock-news timeline tool. This policy explains what data the website (trynewspulse.com) and the trynewspulse browser extension collect, why, and how it is handled. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use cookies or cross-site trackers.

1. What we collect

When you search a company or use the extension, we process:

• The company name or ticker you search — used to generate the report and to show it on the public report page.
• Your IP address — used only in hashed form (SHA-256) for two purposes: (a) per-IP daily rate limiting and free-quota counting, and (b) aggregate usage statistics (e.g. number of visitors per day). The hash cannot be reversed to your IP.
• Aggregate counters — daily query counts, per-company popularity, and the channel the request came from (website or extension). These are totals, not per-person records.

We do not collect your name, email, browsing history, other tabs or sites, or any content you type outside the search box.

2. How the extension works

The extension only sends a request when you explicitly act: when you select a company name and choose "trynewspulse: what happened & why" from the right-click menu, or type a ticker into the extension popup. It reads no other page content and requires no login.

3. Third-party services

• Cloudflare hosts the site; standard connection logs may be processed by Cloudflare for security.
• Tavily receives the company query to search public news.
• DeepSeek receives the retrieved news article excerpts to structure the timeline.
• Finnhub receives the company/ticker to verify it is a listed company.

These services process the minimal data needed to produce a report and have their own privacy policies.

4. How long we keep data

Reports and usage counters are stored in Cloudflare KV with automatic expiry: report data up to 90 days, usage counters up to 90 days, visitor and quota keys up to 30 days. No long-term retention.

5. Public reports

Generated reports are published on this site at public URLs (e.g. /reports/apple-aapl) so that anyone — including search engines — can view them. The company name you searched may therefore appear publicly. No personal data appears in reports.

6. Not investment advice

Reports are factual timelines generated from public news sources and may contain errors. Nothing on this site constitutes investment advice. Do not make financial decisions based solely on this tool.
